Tophatter is definitely a scam and should be avoided at all costs. I was a customer for 10 months and in that time I attempted to make 107 purchases, of which 93 were refunded. A few of them were returned for refund personally because they were either just crap or because the item greatly differed from its listed description, which almost by definition is fraud. The majority of my refunds were because the items I purchased were just never shipped. Listen closely, the items purchased were just never shipped. Never shipped? They can just take money and provide nothing?
Needless to say it will take months, many many months for you to receive a refund. And that refund, will 99% of the time be returned to you in credit and you will need to fight tooth and nail for your actual money back. This is what a scam is.
This irritating and fraudulent behavior is arguably illegal in the U.S.. But apparently not in China where this company is located. Yes they have a San Francisco office and good luck getting a real response from them.
Take it from me and the thousands of others, just say no.

From the first day he was attacked by an overzealous customer service rep that was also clueless.
He was offered $100 Scheduling credit if he followed 4 rules, which he did very quickly, the CS rep denied what he did and even when he showed documentation the rep still gave him a hard time.
Then after Tophatter sold items that he had on hold, all to the same person at the same address which dad fulfilled anyway, shipping all 4 items together, dad bough the shipping label from Tophatter, but for s9me reason 3 items said in transit and the 4rh said waiting to ship. Mid you, they all went to the same tracking number.
This CS rep, told dad that he had to ship the customer a 5th piece at no charge or refund her purchase.
Again, dad showed documentation that he fulfilled all 4 items and 10 minutes later was banned from selling!
When he asked why, they said he wasn't enjoying selling. The opposite is true b3cuase the last.email before being banned began, I LOVE SHIPPING ON TOPHATTER.
Then they told him he hadn't sold enough to make it worthwhile for HIM. He sold over $700 and about 50 order in the 10 days that they allowed him to sell. Not bad for an 65-year-old stroke survivor!
He loved selling on the site, but because he complained about a mean, over zealous, nasty Customer Service Rep, he was banned from selling.
He even tried to apologize to this terrible person but to no avail. They refuse to respond to him.

I found 18 charges on my credit card that were mostly not my charges for Top Hatter. I maybe made 3 or 4 bids in March. I tried to call their number but was referred to their web site here. The charges got larger and larger. There were 7 on one day, including one for 36. 70 $ that I never could have agreed to. Then a small one a few days later that I may have made. I am informing my credit card company and the BBB.
This company helps fake Chinese companies pawn their fraudulent knock offs to unknowing buyers. Here is an example of their scams: customer bought a gopro camera, waited for months, received a knock-off fake camera that doesn't even look like what was in the picture, tried to get a refund under their "buyer protection" (that's a scam in itself) and was burdened with such a difficult and costly return shipping process that they figured it was easier to take the loss than pay out of pocket and go through the pain to ship it back to china via canada and customs and all.

I bought a bunch of jewelry from this site, last year. Every piece I bought, that stated it was 925, was not!! Most people think, just because the item is stamped 925, that it is, and they don't bother to test it. Foreign countries, do not have to follow the rules of the US. They can stamp 925 on any piece of jewelry they want. This becomes a problem, if you are a reseller. It is illegal, to sell items, in the US, that say 925 and are not. Check the FTC for fines. I also bought a few bags, saying they were oiled leather, also fake!!
I was bidding on things at Tophatter mainly a lot of their jewelry. It was being sold as 18k but I knew it was only gold plated. Would have to be stupid to think I could get gold so cheap. Necklaces ,rings, braclets. Proably have over a hundred and fifty dollars or more. The jewelry looked good was saving it all up to sell in small business I was fixing to start. After I built up a good bit of it and started selling some . People were comming back saying and showing me that it started turning . The kicker was the same day or 2 or 3 days later . I paid $19.97 and this will cost me $24 + to send back so they know we are not stupid enough to do that, plus they would only refund the $18. The shipping label says the value is $3.00. I am disputing thru my credit card, the BBB and the Attorney General's office.

With all do respect, just the fact that you SHIELD YOURSELF by NOT supplying a PHONE NUMBER for people to call about issues with your actions leads me to believe you DO NOT WANT TO TALK BY PHONE, LEAVES A VEY BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH. My wife has sent you a message about wanting to return the KETO diet pills she purchased that are past the EXPIRATION DATE and has accepted the fact that she is NOT OVERWEIGHT AND DON't need to diet as her Doctor agrees and was advised by her Doctor & pharmacy not to take them and throw them away or send them back (if we can). I told my wife not to be disappointed if you DO NOT respond to her contacting you. I guess we will see just how good your CUSTOMER SERVICE IS REGARDING HER WANTING ALL THESE BOTTLES OF KETO DIET PILLS.

Tophatter does not make it easy to contact them nor do they do an oversight on their sellers as to scams and refunds to the customers for damaged or non working items bought is lot of these items are from China and it takes a long time to get the items and they don’t stand by their return policies as stated I have learned my lessons with this site

I left a negative review and the company said it was a duplicate. Oh. In addition to selling ugly crap they also lie! Is this a duplicate by my bad twin Tophatter? Yup. It says this is a duplicate too. What a clever way of not posting negative comments. I will go to BBB etc.

One product purchased did not have a plug that could be used in the ZUSA. I got refunded for that but it was a pain. How many got shipped before someone merely looked at the plug?
Next purchase was a ring that looked NOTHING LIKE ITS PICTURE. OF, course there is no phone number! They say go to my orders (shipped) but alas it is empty! So what can I do with this ugly ring? Hey topreviewsite - give tophatter their money back and do a proper review and get your dignity back! So many people have been suckered into buying fake/fraud/knock-off products or treated poorly by their staff and stuck with crappy stuff they throw in the trash and left with nothing for all their money and trouble.
It doesn't take much ACTUAL reporting/reviewing to see that tophatter is a TOTAL SCAM! These guys who started tophatter actually have a bad habit of bankrupting companies like Heartsy and Blippy and Blipify.
Do the public a favor and actually do a legitimate review after researching these FRAUDS and seeing what actual buyers are saying OK???

Nice digital thermometer for my daughter to use with her babies. The shipped quickly a small bottle of perfume? No Thermometer? They refunded my money. The second was a GoPro Video recorder. I paid upon winning the bid. It said it was preparing to ship in a few days. I checked back and it said it was preparing to ship and to check shipping update. I did and it said no information available? After 25 days and no up dates I canceled and they refunded my money! I did not want my money back in either case. I wanted the product! Don’t do business with this firm. You’ll just waste time in my opinion!
I agree with every negative comment!! Tophatter is a scam!! It is not legitimate. They must have paid you for this review. I got screwed out of $150 . They need to be shut down!!
I too have had an awful experience with Tophatter - as a seller. Years ago, I dealt with them as a buyer & had a positive experience, so I thought I'd give them a shot as a seller. My thought was that I wanted to sell some things quickly due to the current pandemic & this would be a perfect way to do it. I especially thought people would be willing to buy from a very clearly US based seller, even if it took a bit to build trust.
However, Tophatter's fees are far more outrageous than 35%. I'm actually very much in the hole. It's virtually impossible to make any money at all with them. Why? They charge me $2 just to ask them a question. They charge $2 *per item* to list it once for 90 seconds at 2am. Yet, they try and incentivize listing items at $1 with free shipping. And, they for some reason will not let me place more than 2 items at a time. Therefore, even straight out of the gate, I'm already $2 + per item per time slot in the hole. I tried strategizing my way through it by setting the listings with $1 starting price and $4 shipping & got no sales at all. So, I switched to free shipping and a $5 starting price & managed to make a small handful of sales (for as much as $7). But, by that time, I had racked up $50 just in fees just for getting the product in front of people. Two days in, 4 sales made. The 2 products have only been put in front of potential customers 20 times, and even with the sales made, I am in the hole and owe Tophatter $56.44. The thing is that even if I had made a sale for that $5 every time it was put in front of a customer, I'd still have been in the hole by $39.36, *before* even considering the actual item cost. In order to have made any money at all (about $0.50 per item), I'd have had to sell every single one every time (100% success rate) for $10. Considering the fact that Tophatter themselves state that the average selling price in my category right now is $5.54, and that the average success rate is 84.5%, there is absolutely no way for me to come out a winner in all this. They hide their scheduling fees before you start in order to draw you in. Now, I feel like a sucker.

I don't like that they don't refund you the way you paid. They refund you in credits. I live on a budget I still need to replace these gifts in time for Christmas.I need it back in my account. You have definitely lost me as a customer.I will not recommend you to my friends.I don't like having to jump thru hoops to try to get this info to you.I will match up my payments with the charges on my PayPal account and my checking account.
