Very often, free trials are limited by: period (the amount of time you have to use the service), data (the maximum amount of data you can use), and server locations (the number of servers in the network you can connect to).
The VPN Jack service limit their free trial by period; they allow a period of 60 minutes for you to use the service free of charge. They also allow some flexibility in that you must not use the 60 minutes in a stretch; you can connect multiple times (but in 24 hours) to use your 60 minutes.
In comparison with other services some of whom offer up to 7 days of free trial, VPN Jack’s offer of 60 minutes in 24 hours is almost laughable. But in their defence; since they put no data cap on their free trial, and offer a paid plan of 24 hours, it would be criminal to ask for the 7+ days free period that the other services give.
A refund policy serviced by a money back guarantee allow VPN services to show that they value customer satisfaction. Many services are offering “X” days money back guarantees that allow cutomer who are not satisfied with the service to request a refund of their money within “X” days of making payment.
The VPN Jack service does not do refund and so have no money back guarantee. However, this is not to say that the VPN Jack service does not care about customer satisfaction; rather, since they offer a 24 hours paid package, it is difficult to come up with any reasonable guarantee period.
Many VPN services loudly state the number of servers they operate, and the location where these servers are hosted. They do this because they know that users are drawn to any service with a robust server network consisting of numerous servers in locations all over the world.
The VPN Jack service says nothing about the number of servers they operate. I always like to know the number of servers in a VPN’s network, so I went for the information. My thorough search came up empty; the only thing to be found was “Our servers are located in multiple locations in USA“.
Generally, users like a global server network so as to have a nearby server regardless of where in the world they might be. With distant servers, data packets are routed through long distances causing significant drop in performance. So with all their servers in the U.S., the only people smiling are Americans, and maybe nearby Canadians. But the smiles will vanish as soon as one have to travel far from those locations.
With a network covering only the U.S., it is safe to say that VPN Jack operates only a few servers. Many people connecting to and sharing the resources of a few servers will also negatively affect performance. Also, a global network enhances anonymity, as it will allow one to appear anywhere in the world; but VPN Jack’s U.S. location can only place you in the U.S.
The VPN Jack service is compatible with the following platforms: Windows (10, 8, 7, Vista), MacOS, OS X, iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), and Android. This is a very narrow list compared to that of many other services.
Unlike sone other services which can be used on any device that has an operating system, you cannot use VPN Jack on Linux, routers, Smart TVs, or gaming consoles.
Simultaneous Connections
The VPN Jack service does not support simultaneous multiple connections. This means that you cannot use your one VPN Jack account to secure more than one device at the same time. They advice that if you need several connections simultaneously, you can buy multiple VPN packages, one for each computer/ device.
This might be a deal breaker to persons who would want to buy one VPN account to secure the multiple devices of a small family or business. This is especially so because many services allow up to five simulatneous connections, and there are a few that allow unlimited simultaneous connections.
Also, because only one device connection is allowed at any time, the cost of using the VPN Jack service can easily go up (for one who uses multiple devices) and be no different from that of the other services. For example, if you have a phone and a PC that you use together, and you wish to protect them for a month with the VPN Jack service, you’ll have to purchase two one-month packages at $8.98 ($4.49 + $4.49). $8.98 is already within the price range of the expensive VPNs, but it is for just two devices; while some of the other services for that same price will allow you connect at least 3 more devices at the same time.
The VPN Jack service is simple to use. The interface is basic; you just have to connect, and you’re assigned an IP Address from one of the U.S. locations. The other things you can do is to switch between servers, and switch VPN connection between PPTP and L2TP/ IPSec. If you want a service that allows you do advanced tweaks and configurations, you are out of luck with Jackie.
The VPN Jack service’s U.S. focus makes them an ideal service for unblocking geo restrictions by U.S. sites. It allows you access and stream contents from U.S. streaming giants such as Hulu, Netflix and others. Needless to say, the service cannot unblock the UK’s BBC iPlayer. That they do not throttle or slow down your speed is another reason why they are good for streaming.
Torrenting could expose one to copyright trolls and insidious peers who want to use the file sharing activity to get at confidential information in your devices. But torrenting remain a popular way of downloading files over the internet, so people are increasingly seeking VPN protection so that they can torrent safely
However, some VPNs do not support this torrenting, and some will support but limit the activity. As a result, the services that supports torrenting draw a lot of interest.
The VPN Jack service do not support torrenting; they clearly state that “P2P file sharing software is not allowed”. If the main purpose of your wanting a VPN is to download torrents, you’ll have to look beyond the VPN Jack service.
VPN Jack does not record inconsistent speed; nomatter the location you connect to, you get almost identical speeds. This is to be expected, since the server locations are all in one country.
All their servers being in one country is one reason why it is difficult to objectively compare their speed with other services with a global network. With the other services, where you are will not significantly affect the final result. You can simply grab some nearby servers (which will give fast speeds) and some distance servers (which will give slower speeds), test them, and average the results. The averaged result is a better reflection of the performance of the network.
But with VPN Jack, their speed result will be dependent on where you’re testing from. If you’re in or near the U.S., you will get fast results, with no distant servers to pull down the overall result; but if you’re at the other end of the world, results will be poor, with no nearby servers to up the overall performance.
I tested from the other side of the world, and the service chopped my base speed by over 70%. That’s a slow performance; but again, I was at the other end of the world, the closer to U.S. you are, the better performance you’ll get.
The VPN Jack service offers both PPTP and L2TP (to be more precise, L2TP/IPSec) VPN connections.
The L2TP is the more secure of the two; it is implemented along with IPSec encryption which makes it secure. The PPTP uses Microsoft’s Point-to-Point Encryption protocol (MPPE) encryption. MPPE implements the RSA RC4 encryption algorithm with a maximum of 128 bit session keys. This set up is outdated and considered insecure. VPN Jack says about the PPTP: “It was demonstrated that the encryption in PPTP VPN is not very strong and can be broken with some effort”
The first proof of a VPN’s privacy focus is the VPN protocols and the level of encryption it offers. The golden goose of the industry is the OpenVPN protocol; not only is it the most secure protocol, it also optimizes speed and is highly configurable. The OpenVPN comes with AES 256 encryption that is uncrackable. As a result, a lot of privacy focused services offer the OpenVPN; and are dropping support for the PPTP because of its vulnerabilities.
However, the VPN Jack service does not offer the OpenVPN. They offer the L2TP/ IPSec which is considered a secure alternative to the OpenVPN, but not because of any focus on users’ privacy. They started offering the L2TP only when the latest version of iOS (10) and macOS (10.12 aka Sierra) no longer supported the PPTP.
The VPN Jack service says that they do not keep logs. They do not monitor or keep any records of web-sites you visit or the content of the data being transferred through your VPN connection.
However, they do track some minimal information needed for proper accounting and system health monitoring, like the duration of your VPN connection and average bandwidth. This is non personally identifying information that theoretically cannot compromie your privacy. As I have come to know, “theoretical” is one thing, “practical” is another. Nomatter what VPNs say, session logs from a VPN can be used to narrow in on you. Many services do without collecting these session logs that Jackie collects.
The highlight of the VPN Jack service’s privacy policy is that they do not collect any information for account creation. In fact, there is no signing up/ registration/ account creation. With other services, you have to submit at least an email address in order to signup. Afterward, the email is stored in their system, and is used to identify you perpetually. If the service have to comply with a court order to disclose data, this stored email is one of the information disclosed.
By eliminating account creation and the submission of personal information that the process requires, VPN Jack allows you use the service anonymously.
VPN Jack will only collect your personal information when you pay with PayPal. They say they use this information only to ensure the quality of service; and the guarantee that do not give away or sell any information about users to third parties. However, they’ll rather not have this minimal payment information, so they advice that you pay anonymously with Bitcoin.
Since no email address is submitted, after making your payment with Bitcoin, you will receive your VPN login/ password on the confirmation web-page.

The U.S. have those anti privacy laws that permit ISPs to retain and sell users data to third parties; they belong to a global spy network (fourteen-eyes) where they work cooperatively with other nations to spy on targets; and they have intelligence agencies with a track record of invasive practices. Now, you see why it doesn’t help that Jackie keep some session logs.
Very recently, U.S intelligence agencies prevailed on a VPN based in Hong Kong, to hand over a user’s session logs, and these logs facilitated the tracking and identification of the user. If the U.S. agencies can pull weight abroad, then they definitely can do more to a service within its borders. And, if the U.S. agencies get session logs from Jackie, the record is there that they can turn lemons to lemonade.
This VPN does not have a kill switch feature to protect you from having your data and real location exposed when the VPN connection drops. VPN services do not have 100% uptime; so it’s actually a matter of when and not if a service will suddenly loose connection. Although, the VPN will automatically reconnect if it looses connection, the few seconds between disconnecting and reconnecting is sufficient for monitoring elements to capture your information and location. A kill switch prevent that by cutting off internet connection until the VPN reconnects; this ensures that you do not transmit data online without the VPN protection. Therefore, it is an invaluable tool of any VPN security suite; but Jackie does not have this very important security tool.
CUSTOMER SUPPORT
The VPN Jack service has the usual self help resources which are FAQS and VPN setup (guides). Their FAQ section is not as extensive or detailed as that of some other services; but each article (even the one-liners) satisfactorily answered the question it addressed. The “VPN setup” section holds detailed instructions for manually setting up the VPN on the supported platforms. The guides are neatly arranged by supported protocol (PPTP and L2TP) > platform. They are written in plain and simple language, and you wouldn’t have any issues with the process. However, many services are further simplifying their setup guides by including screenshots of each step in the process; this enable users visualize the written explanations. VPN Jack dont have this at the moment; so you’ll have to make do with the written instructions.
If you need to contact VPN Jack for anything, you can do that by email via info@vpnjack.com. The email service does well by responding fast to inquiries (not more than two hours). This is far better than the VPN services that can have you waiting for 48 hours; but the two hours wait can be frustrating if you desire fast responses. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be banging my head if I pay for a 24 hours package, and have to spend about two hours of it waiting for a response from the support team.
Because of the very short period of some of their packages, the VPN Jack service really need a live chat feature to furnish instant responses to customers’ queries. They do not have a live chat, and it is a sore miss.
VPN Jack is basically an inexpensive, simple to use service to anonymously stream U.S. contents.
However, the VPN Jack service has too many things against it to make it one of the great VPN services around: they operate very few servers and in only one country; they do not support torrenting; they don’t allow multiple simultaneous connections; they are compatible with only a few platforms; and they don’t have live chat support service.
